If ever there was a song that could best describe the Progressive Left and their mindless bromides, and anti-conceptual nonsense, it would be “I Love the Way You Lie” by Eminem and Rihanna. This song is particularly salient in lieu of the current nom de guerre, conceived in the pits and bowels of all things Democrat, such as their “War on Women”. To put it succinctly, there is no War on Women, unless you turn the tables around on Democrats/the Progressive Left, place a mirror in front of their noses and expose them to the cold, hard truth. This is what Katie Pavlich has successfully accomplished in her new book: Assault and Flattery: The Truth About the Left and their War on Women.

It is astounding to me that Ms. Pavlich has accomplished as much as she has in her young life; She currently serves as an editor for Townhall.com, is a regular contributor on such high profile news programs such as Lou Dobbs, Cavuto, and of course Hannity. Ms. Pavlich has filled in on the popular Fox News daytime talk show the Five, and is now a regular rotating commentator on the new Fox News’ show, Outnumbered. Perhaps her highest achievement has been being recognized at CPAC 2013 as Blogger of the Year, following in the large and revealing path of her prior book, the bestselling, Fast and Furious: Barack Obama’s Bloodiest Scandal and Its Shameless Cover-up. To say Ms. Pavlich is anything less than accomplished at 25 would be an insolent rebuke of reality. Already she has accomplished much, and she exceeds her excellent work in Fast and Furious with her new book.

Assault and Flattery begins full steam ahead with Ms. Pavlich pulling no punches and showing no remorse for the apologia the Left has made for other prominent Democrats’ misdeeds involving women. The book bravely takes on the Progressive Left’s wooing of the women voting bloc and rightly asserts that the Left does not care about women at all; they only care about votes, securing their party’s future, and perhaps indirectly, making women beholden to the party for generations to come.

Ms. Pavlich doesn’t just deconstruct the Left’s misconceived and outright hyperbolic distortion of reality by asserting that they are the only one’s that care about women, she eviscerates it in such a way that only a cognitively dissonant Neanderthal could continue to show fidelity to unqualified beliefs that are unsupported and poorly conceived. She shows time and time again that the Left’s sacred cows such as Bill Clinton and Ted Kennedy continue to be venerated with a wink and a nod from the National Organization of Women (NOW) as well as other women’s groups despite their past transgressions involving women (some who have claimed sexual assault, and others who ended up dead). Perhaps most astounding about the revelations that Ms. Pavlich shows in her book is how the so-called “guardians of feminism” from the National Organization of Women purport to be open to a “diverse membership” while, at the same time, as long as that diverse membership votes Democrat. Even more so, Ms. Pavlich clearly shows in her book that women’s groups, while claiming the sanctity of their bodies and minds (individualism) seek the guidance and paternalistic hand of government, run by men, through institutions that were created by men. Socialism is the theme of the day in modern feminism and they are not ashamed to say it. Ms. Pavlich points this out, and then debunks why their fidelity to this ideology is counter-intuitive to the concept of a “free thinking, sovereign, independent and strong woman.” If FA Hayek were alive today, he would agree that the modern feminist movement and Democratic party seek not to empower women, but to subjugate them, make them dependent on the state, destroy the family unit, and create a new age serfdom for women.

Assault and Flattery is not a difficult read. The book is divided into three parts, and contains eleven chapters. Its total content is 257 pages from Introduction to the final endnotes. Ms. Pavlich has a very clear and concise writing style, and she is astute to make each chapter blend with the next. In all, the book is an excellent read for anyone who wants to educate themselves on the War on Women and the history of the modern feminist movement. It is a book that should be read not only if you are a woman, but also if you are a man. The book debunks the view that the Democratic Party wants people to believe; namely that Conservative’s want to throw women under the bus, are misogynistic, don’t care about “Women’s health” blah blah blah blah blah

At 25 years old Katie Pavlich has already accomplished much, but with Assault and Flattery she rightly establishes herself not as an emerging voice in the Conservative movement, but as one of its most prominent voices. Further, the book is a brave testament to Ms. Pavlich’s courage in speaking out on the other side of women’s issues, a point that will not make her popular with feminist groups. This being her second book in a very short career thus far shows that Ms. Pavlich is only getting started. Just think, Katie Pavlich is 25 years old, and if she is this good now, she will only get better. Watch out liberals!
